Earlier today, the 2018 Juno Awards nominees were announced, and perhaps not much to our surprise, it’s the younger Canadian artists who seem to be paving the way. From Jessie Reyez (leading) and Daniel Caesar, who are both performing at the award show, to Alessia Cara and The Weeknd, a heavy amount of R&B-based artists are leading these noms. Of course, other acts like the legend Buffy Sainte-Marie and Diana Krall, as well as acts like Arcade Fire and the late Gorde Downie also scored some nominations.

Of course, this hardly reflects our Canadian talent pool, as quite a few artists, specifically in the untelevised genres of Rap and R&B, have opted to boycott the Canadian awards this year. Nevertheless, a big congratulations to all the nominees.
