Spotify’s team has been shaking things up in Toronto all week, starting with the announcement that Boi-1da would be an ambassador for the Toronto leg of their Secret Genius workshops via a massive Billboard at Yonge-Dundas Square, which features Nineteen85 on the other side, and Frank Dukes across the street.
But it wasn’t enough to get several artists like Jessie Reyez, Bibi Bourelly and more into studios with our own (Illangelo, Murdabeatz, T-Minus and more also participated), Spotify’s Rap Caviar playlist came to life last night for a sold-out show.
Headlined by Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Roy Wood$ and DJ Drama, the all-ages (yikes!) show was rammed, sweaty and on one. Not to mention the fact that Murdabeatz brought out Pressa and DJ Drama brought out both Killy and Baka, the night quickly went from hype to Toronto’s own – also evident by the massive amount of artists and industry heads who showed up – see gallery below.
Despite the photography pit barriers being pushed up against the stage by fans, annihilating any possibility of shooting from a straight angle, Tse Daniel definitely managed to capture some great shots, and a select few from Spotify have been added as well.
Upcoming RapCaviar Live destinations include Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and New York. RapCaviar Live is in partnership with Live Nation Urban. Additional dates, artists and venues will be announced at a later date.
The views of our contributors are their own, and not necessarily those of Boi-1da.
