Boi-1da.net Premiere: Van Hill – Naked Museum (Free Album)

To say Toronto is a hot bed for upcoming talent is an understatement these days. Van Hill who has impressed me immensely since being put onto him a few months ago has delivered his new free album under the ILLZED imprint, matter of fact it’s his debut under the independent label. Van was kind enough to choose us to drop the project, and I was blessed to be able to stream the project a little early which has given me the opportunity to go into a little depth regarding the LP.

I don’t know what it is but Toronto artists always seem to be able to paint vivid pictures of their city and what goes on in it from day to day. If you have never visited the city the music certainly doesn’t leave much to the imagination. When I pressed play on the intro I didn’t really know what to expect, just over a minute into the projects opener I knew that Van had created something that was going to be worthwhile and enjoyable. As the project goes on it sounds like Van was having more and more fun creating this, the beat selection is superb, whoever played a hand in that whether it was all Van himself or management they deserve a medal for it. Lot’s of heavy 808’s and some serious drum work make this project a must for the system in the warmer months.

Moving away from the beats and onto Van’s lyrical ability it certainly sheds lots of light into the character Van is, a confident young man who has his career ahead of him. It’s clear to all that Van likes to have fun, and that certainly was portrayed through his music on this project. This, the standard version of the project weighs in with 10 tracks,, a deluxe edition of the project is dropping in a weeks time which will come with five extra tracks for us to digest.
